Abstract

Human cadaveric vertebral bodies offer a unique source of bone marrow for use in research and clinical transplantation protocols. Techniques to enhance maximum cell recovery from this tissue while maintaining a high viability of marrow matrix are constantly under revision. This manual will focus on the techniques utilized primarily at this facility. It will address the procuring, processing, freezing and thawing of bone marrow that we have found to produce maximum yields. Keywords: Bone marrow, Vertebrae, Cadaveric, Marrow matrix, CBR-induced.
