Development of a Hypermedia Foreign Language Vocabulary Learning Environment

Abstract

This report describes a theoretical framework for teaching military- specific foreign language vocabulary to Army soldiers. The theoretical framework relies on the psychological organization of lexical memory and the pedagogical principle of presenting new vocabulary in discourse contexts. Development of a prototype learning environment is described and a research plan to evaluate the system is proposed. Keywords: Military intelligence soldiers.
