Proceedings of a Workshop on Cognitive Testing Methodology (11-12 June 1984)

Abstract

To define the relationship between nutrition and cognitive performance of military personnel more clearly, a workshop was held at which experts on military performance, cognitive resting and nutrition reviewed relevant data, identified key issues and developed strategies for future research. The workshop had three goals: to ascertain the current state of knowledge concerning cognitive performance testing; to develop guidelines for selecting appropriate cognitive tests for use by the Department of Defense in its nutrition research programs; and to identify research topics with promise of improving our ability to assess the effects of nutrition on the performance of military personnel. A total of 12 papers presented by a broad-based group of experts were followed by group discussions. Discussion summaries and conclusions and recommendations are included in the proceedings. (EMK)
