Sampling and Chemical Analysis Quality Assurance Requirements for the Navy Installation Restoration Program

Abstract

The Installation Restoration Program (IRP) identifies and evaluates past hazardous material disposal sites in order to control the migration of hazardous contaminants. The program also controls hazards that may result from these past disposal operations. The IRP has the following phases: Preliminary Assessment/Records Search, Site Inspection/Remedial Investigation of selected alternatives for remediation. During any of these phases, analysis of soil, water, and waste samples may be performed. The Navy program for the IRP includes performing field investigations and analysis of samples. The purpose of this document is to specify the requirements for the control of the accuracy, precision, and completeness of the samples, and data from the point of collection through reporting. (js)
