Abstract

This paper documents the process of downloading a SAS dataset to a microcomputer for use with STATA. Inquiries about the STATADEMO diskette that accompanies the documentation should be directed to RAND's Publications Department. Special typefaces and symbols are used throughout this manual to denote the keystrokes you must make on your microcomputer keyboard. These conventions are used in all Computing Information Center (CIC) documentation. Contents: Customizing the STATADEMO Diskette; Getting the Contents and Means of the SAS Dataset; Creating the Dictionary; Preparing for Downloading; Downloading to the PC; Working with the Dataset on the PC; Archiving the Dataset; Helpful suggestions from the Authors.
