Immunogenic Characterization of the Dengue Virus Specified Nonstructural Glycoprotein gp48 (NV3, Soluble Complement Fixing Antigen)

Abstract

Efforts have been concerned with mechanisms of the protective immune response to the flavivirus nonstructural protein NS1 and to identification of protective NS1 domains for incorporation into possible future subunit flavivirus vaccines. This report summarizes work performed during the funding period and includes data from experiments initiated in our laboratory as well as from these performed in collaboration with our colleagues in other institutions. Evidence of protective immunity to NS1. We had earlier reported that immunization with yellow fever (YS) NS1 protects mice and monkeys against lethal YF infection and that mice immunized with dengue are similarly protected against this flavivirus.
