Mechanics of Concrete II

Abstract

This Report summarizes the results of a research program focused on the distress of cementitious composites exposed to aggressive chemical substances found in nature. It presents a comprehensive summary of constituent physico-chemical processes such as diffusion with adsorption, kinetics of chemical reactions, stresses attributable to expansive reaction products and attendant microcracking. Formulated analytical model was checked against available experimental data. The accuracy with which these data were duplicated is considered to be exemplary at this stage of the model development.
