The Identification of Contracting Terms in Support of the Body of Knowledge

Abstract

This theses studied the advancement of professionalism within the contracting work force and established a baseline of contracting terms that, when defined, will form a dictionary of contracting terminology. This theses is a part of an effort at both the Air Force Institute of Technology and Naval Postgraduate School to identify and define those terms to be included in the initial publication of a dictionary by the National Contract Management Association. This study had two main objectives: first, to examine how further developing the contracting body of knowledge will enhance the professionalism of the contracting discipline and work force; and second, to compile a master listing of candidate terms to be defined by associated research leading to the eventual publication of a dictionary. A master listing of terms, built using the comments and recommendations of selected experts in the contracting and education fields is the main product of this research effort.
