An Evaluation of the Acquisition Management Professional Development Program as a Program Director Career Model

Abstract

This research provides an evaluation of the Acquisition Management Professional Development Program (AMPDP) with respect to AFSC 0029, Program Director qualifications. The AMPDP is Air Force Systems Command's career model for the acquisition officer. The credentials outlined in the program are identified as the measurement variables to determine the required model. Using Officer Career Briefs of the current program directors, the actual model is constructed and a comparison with the required model is accomplished. The comparison showed that eight out of 22 variables indicated meaningful differences and that some adjustment to the AMPDP should be considered. Keywords: Careers, Officer personnel, Military procurement, Qualifications.
