Enlisted Women in the Marine Corps: First-Term Attrition and Long-Term Retention

Abstract

This research memorandum provides an overview of gender differences in the continuation rates for enlisted Marines. It also contains a detailed analysis of first-term attrition for female recruits with four-year obligations accessed in FY 1981 through FY 1985. In this analysis, female first-term attrition probabilities are modeled as a function of background characteristics at entry into Marine Corps. (RWJ)
