Special Flood Hazard Evaluation Report, Mill Creek, Village of Lowville, Lewis County, New York

Abstract

This report documents the results of an investigation to determine potential flooding along Mill Creek within the village of Lowville, New York. the study reach extends along Mill Creek from the eastern corporate limit, upstream to the western corporate limit, a distance of 6,600 feet. Information developed for the Mill Creek study will be used to manage future flood plain development. While the report does not provide solutions to flood problems, it does furnish a suitable basis for the adoption of land use controls to guide flood plain development, thereby affecting drainage from watersheds and preventing intensification of the flood loss problem. It will also aid in the development of other flood damage reduction techniques to modify flooding and reduce flood damages.
