Soil-Resistant Treatment for Aircraft Tactical Paint Schemes

Abstract

Low gloss tactical paints continue to pose a significant problem for fleet activities. Restrictions on pH(7.0 to 10.0), phosphate content (not allowed) and solvent content (less than 32 percent) have limited the effectiveness of exterior cleaning compounds. This project was initiated to investigate soil-resistant treatments that would either prevent the retention of difficult soils or render the paint system more cleanable.
