Evaluation of Domain Spacing Scaling Laws for Semicrystalline Diblock Copolymers

Abstract

Diblock copolymers of (ethylene-co-butylene)-b-(ethylene) (EBEE) were used to evaluate scaling laws describing the molecular weight dependence of the lamellar domain spacing of semi-crystalline block copolymer systems. Small angle X-ray scattering was used to measure lamellar domain spacings for a series of EBEE samples. Experimental results were in good agreement with the predictions of the equilibrium theory of Whitmore and Noolandi.
