Abstract

This document is the 1990 annual report of research conducted in the Electronics Research Laboratory at University of California at Berkeley under the sponsorship of the Joint Services Electronics Program. The research covers the following project areas: Quantum Electronic Devices: (1-A)Nonlinear Optics in Compound Semiconductors (1-B) Ultrafast Optical Techniques(1-C)Optical Probing of Semiconductor Devices and Interfaces by Electro-Optic and Photo- Elastic Effects; Electronic Devices: (2-A).1 Micron BiCMOS Devices in Bulk and SOI Substrates (2-B) Conductive Oxides and Ferroelectrics for Programmable Devices and (2-C) Insulated-Gate GaAs Field Effect Transistors; Neural Networks and Parallel Computation: (3-A) Stochastic Neural Networks and Application to Signal Processing (3-B) Learning and Generalization by Neural Networks (3-C) reconfigurable Analog Elements for Neural Nets and (3-D) Architectural Issues in Parallel Computation. There is also a section concerning significant accomplishments.
