Rheology Studies on M30 Propellant

Abstract

Rates of propagation of intergranular stress at the propellant porosity for the three temperatures 219 K, 294 K, and 336 K are 210 m/s, 157 m/ s, and 78 m/s and are obtained from rheological experiments on M30A1 propellant. Stress rate dependence, which is also investigated, is seen only for the 336 K experiments. The shear force imparted to the container wall by the propellant is shown to range from 20-50% of the applied force.
