Review of Audition Literature: Selection of Acoustic Signals for Use in the Synthesis of Auditory Space

Abstract

The purpose of this review is to aid pilot orientation. It provides information about topics of current interest in psychoacoustics that seem particularly relevant to the problem of synthesizing auditory space and presenting information within it. Included is a historical background with an orientation toward contemporary psychoacoustic information. Appendix A lists, with descriptors, the journal articles reviewed. Appendix B is a bibliography.
