An Overview of Tropical Circulation

Abstract

This report on atmospheric circulation in tropical regions discusses its role in supporting the larger general circulation system. The historical presentation of general circulation theory, the influence of tropical circulation on heat and momentum budgets, and localized circulation patterns are discussed. The subject of tropical cyclones has not been included in this report.
