An Alternative to Operational Amplifiers

Abstract

Operational amplifiers are the mainstay of analog (linear) electronics. Alternatives have never been seriously considered. Today there is an increasing push for high speed. This report argues that operational amplifiers are not well suited to high speed and presents an alternative, fixed- gain amplifier. Typical applications are shown and an approach for designing them suggested.
