Free Electron Laser with High Current Density Thermionic Cathode

Abstract

An electron gun with a lanthanum hexaboride planar cathode is used to generate a gyrating electron beam by passing the beam through a wiggler electromagnet in an axial guide field. The beam test stand, Marx generator, wiggler design, and beam diagnostics are described in detail.
