Abstract

The 243rd Engineering Installation Squadron (EIS) and the 265th Combat Communications Squadron (CCS), South Portland Air National Guard (ANG) station (hereinafter referred to as the Station is located in South Portland, Maine. Both the past and current operations have involved the use of potentially hazardous materials and the disposal of wastes. Because of the use of these materials and the disposal of resultant wastes, the National Guard Bureau (NGB) has implemented the Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is a comprehensive program designed to: Identify and fully evaluate suspected problems associated with past hazardous waste disposal and/or spill sites on Department of Defense (DoD) installations and Control hazards to human health, welfare, and the environment that may have resulted from these past practices.
