Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation: An Introduction to Operational Testing and AFOTEC - Mission, History, and Policy. Edition 2.0.

Abstract

This report defines the various categories of Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) and related activities and explains how they support the defense acquisition process. It describes the policies and procedures used in OT&E today and summarizes the historical evolution of operational testing by the Air Force since World War II. The document then outlines organizational responsibilities for OT&E within the Air Force, the other armed services, and the Department of Defense. The report is supplemented by listings of AFOTEC's commanders, vice commanders, and systems tested since 1974--with those used in Operation Desert's storm annotated.
