Abstract

Purposes of the workshop were to introduce and discuss various techniques used to collect biological and physical information from lentic and lotic environments, with special attention focused on large river systems. Topics included physical characteristics of river systems, techniques for evaluating aquatic habitats with regard to the fish and invertebrates, statistical design for water quality studies, field and laboratory techniques used in benthic and fisheries studies, and the results of intensive fish and invertebrate research.
