A Behavioral Evaluation of Command-Selection Aids for Inexperienced Computer Users.

Abstract

This publication reports on two experiments conducted to determine the feasibility of providing online command-selection aids to inexperienced users of an information retrieval system. The results of the first experiment revealed differences in search performance between inexperienced and expert computer users. The second experiment evaluated these command-selection aids for inexperienced users' search performance both during aiding and transfer.
