The Workshop on Standards for the Interoperability of Defense Simulations (3rd) Held in Orlando, Florida on 7-8 August 1990. Volume 3. View-Graphs from Working Groups Presentations

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to present the minutes from the Third Workshop on Standards for the Interoperability of Defense Simulations. This is the third workshop concerning the development of technical standards for networking defense simulations. These standards are intended to meet the needs of large scale simulated engagement systems which are being used increasingly to support system acquisition, test and evaluation, tactical warfare simulation and training in DoD. The primary goal of this workshop was to recommend revisions to the proposed Draft Standard for Protocol Data Units in Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) published in June 1990 by IST. Another goal of the workshop was to continue work towards developing standards in other areas of Distributed Simulation. The two day workshop focused on three major topic areas. These are: Communication Protocols, Terrain Databases, and a new area called Performance Measures.
