Leadership-It's More than Flesh and Blood

Abstract

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, which has a leadership centered corporate culture, invests heavily in and fosters the development of technical, managerial, and executive leadership. This report contains briefing material developed for the Center's Leadership and Management Development Program (L&MP) and the Program Managers (PM) training program. The focus is on the importance of leadership during dynamic change and organizational transformations. The concepts of leadership traits and the differences between management and leadership are used to challenge participants to : (a) seek knowledge of fundamental principles of leadership, (b) be inspired to further develop leadership capabilities within themselves, and (c) practice those principles in all aspects of life.
