Navy Budget (1992): Potential Reductions in Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation Programs

Abstract

This review is one of a series that examines defense budget issues. To conduct our review, we interviewed budget and program officials and reviewed pertinent program documents and budget support data from the Department of the Navy, Washington, D.C.; the Naval Air Development Center, Warminster, Pennsylvania; and the Naval Underwater Systems Center, Newport, Rhode Island. We conducted our review from January to July 1991 in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards. As requested, we did not obtain written agency comments on this report. However, we discussed the information in a draft of this report with officials from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Department of the Navy and incorporated their comments where appropriate.
