Observing System for Critique, Advice and Review (OSCAR)

Abstract

The objective of this effort was to develop an expert system and provide a prototype device to debrief users on performance of air intercepts. The Observing System for Critique, Advice and Review (OSCAR) is one of four related efforts to apply artificial intelligence methodologies to enhance aircrew training. This research represents a portion of research and development at the Armstrong Laboratory, Human Resources Directorate, Aircrew Training Research Division, in support of the Laboratory Research and Technology Plan, whose general objective is to increase combat readiness and job performance by developing and demonstrating more cost-effective ways of acquiring and maintaining new skills.
