Corps Level Command, Control, and Communications Countermeasures (C3CM)

Abstract

This thesis focuses on development of a Command, Control, and Communications Countermeasures (C3CM) planning architecture for corps level operations. Initially, the research describes previous uses of C3CM in recent wars and reviews the lessons learned with applications to the U.S. Army. The lessons learned from previous wars, provides a basis to analyze the U.S. Army corps level command and staff processes for countering enemy control, command, and communications (C3). Included, is an analysis of how C3CM components of maneuver, electronic warfare, targeting, deception, and operations security are integrated into a corps level operation. The analysis of the corps planning process assists in the formulation of a C3CM architecture for planning at the corps level that includes the support requirements of intelligence, communications, command and control, and training. The corps C3CM planning architecture developed is integrated into the corps planning process.
