The Physical Optics Description of Microwave Scattering by the Sea Surface.

Abstract

Two problems in the calculation of sea surface microwave scattering are analysed in detail: the evaluation of the diffraction integral by invoking a two scale separation of the surface height spectrum and the calculation of the perturbation to the surface height spectrum by an internal wave modelled by a soliton. The results obtained reveal the physical content and increase the computational efficiency of these calculations.
