Ada and X Window System Integration

Abstract

The STARS program has funded the development of Ada bindings and implementations to the Athena Consortium's X Window System. This work initially resulted in divergent Ada X implementations by the two contractors. A joint specification and development effort was initiated to create a common Ada/X interface definition from which both contractors could develop separate implementations. This report captures the decisions and rationales arrived at during a series of technical interchange meetings to create this common binding. This report also examines how an Ada application software development could use this Ada/X work.
