Investigation on Toxins and Venoms by Novel MS Techniques. Mass Spectral Investigations on Blue-Green Algal Toxic Peptides and Other Toxins

Abstract

The chiralities of the amino acids present in the blue-green algal peptides (microcystins) were determined by the hydrolysis of the peptides, followed by derivatization with Marfey's reagent and separation of the diastereomeric derivatives over a reversephase HPLC column and detection by Thermospray-MS techniques.
