The Mechanical Property Data Base from an Air Force/Industry Cooperative Test Program on Advanced Aluminum Alloys (IN905XL and AL905XL Forgings)

Abstract

Development of mechanical property data base on Inco Alloys International aluminum-lithium structural alloys is detailed. Aluminum-lithium alloys tested were IN905XL Forgings and AL905XL Forgings. Basic mechanical property data consist of tension, Compression, bearing, shear, and fracture toughness. Fatigue data were developed for both smooth and notched specimens. Constant amplitude fatigue crack growth rate data and spectrum test data were generated. Limited corrosion characteristics were also obtained. All other data developed by the participants are documented.
