What Affects How Quickly a New Job is Learned?

Abstract

A model of the factors that facilitate/hinder learning a new position is proposed and partially tested. While time-on-job explained 28 percent of the variance in the ease with which a position was learned, individual-differences, job/job-characteristics, context, and environmental factors explained an additional 225.
