Effect of the Addition of A12O3 AND Ag2O on the Morphology and Superconductivity of YBa(2)Cu(3)3O(6+x) Ceramic Materials

Abstract

In order to produce YBa2CU306+x ceramic material with fine particle size and good superconducting properties, both A1203 and Ag20 were added to YBa2CU306+X during sintering. The results suggest that the addition of both A1203 and Ag20 does not decrease the average particle size of YBa2CU306+x; however, the superconducting properties degrade with an increase in the A1203 concentration. In composites containing high additive concentration, fine structure resembling that of fine pits are discernible on YBa2CU306+X particles.
