A Statistical Comparison of AUTEC and Eleuthera Island Wind Data for the Period 1 April 1989 through 30 March 1990

Abstract

This document presents a statistical comparison of wind data measured simultaneously on Eleuthera Island and at the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island, Bahamas, for the period 1 April 1989 through 30 March 1990. The statistics calculated and compared include empirical probability distributions, probability densities, conditional probability densities, cross correlations, linear correlations, and power spectral estimates. The wind speed and direction data are found to be well correlated; however, the Eleuthera wind speed data exhibit a negative bias relative to the AUTEC data.
