Optical and Physical Characteristics of the Western Alboran Sea: April 1991

Abstract

The objective of this cruise was to characterize the bio-optical properties of the western Alboran Sea. This experiment involved the USNS BARTLETT, the R/V SEWARD JOHNSON and the JOHNSON SEA-LINK submersible (the latter two of the Harbor Research Oceanographic Institution). This technical note provides a first look report of the optical data acquired from 16 stations occupied by the USNS BARTLETT between April 2 and April 21, 1 991. Results of the biological and bioluminescence experiments are covered in other reports. Physical Oceanography, Optical Oceanography, Microstructure, Instrumentation.
