Laser Material Interactions

Abstract

The Laser-Materials Interaction Laboratory at the Center for High Technology Materials at the University of New Mexico, which is devoted to a broad range of laser spectroscopic probes of semiconductor and nonlinear materials, fabrication processes, and optoelectronic devices, carries out much of this work in conjunction with the Optoelectronics Research Center Program, also funded by AFOSR. During the period of this report significant progress was made in a number of areas, including ultrafast operation of optically-pumped resonant periodic-gain GaAs surface-emitting lasers, grating coupling to surface-plasma waves, and high-speed Si Schottky photodiodes.
