Silicon Polymers

Abstract

Unsaturated carbosilane polymers have been prepared by anionic as well as metathesis polymerization of silacyclopent-3-enes. Of particular interest, is unsaturated carbosilane polymers with Si-H substitution have been prepared. These complementary functionalities permit crosslinking by hydrosilation reactions to yield new coating materials which have low dielectric constants and moisture absorption. These polymers can be chemically modified by addition reaction, to the carbon-carbon double bonds.
