A Cultural Resource Inventory of the Indian Springs Landfill Expansion Project Area, Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field, Clark County, Nevada

Abstract

Environmental Solutions, Inc. conducted archival research and an intensive pedestrian survey for historic properties within the Indian Springs Landfill Expansion project area. Encompassing approximately 16,288 m2, the project area is situated within the Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field, north of the town of Indian Springs in Clark County, Nevada. As a result of the research a single property was found: prehistoric site 26CK4700. This site is a small aboriginal camping locus situated at the northwestern periphery of the project area. Site avoidance is recommended. If avoidance cannot be accomplished, a subsurface testing program is recommended to determine if chronological data and artifacts occur within the dispersed hearth feature.
