Large-Scale Battlefield Simulation Using a Multi-Level Model Integration Methodology

Abstract

This report addresses the problems inherent in the modeling complex software systems in general, and specifically how those problems have affected simulation systems designed to evaluate two particular thrusts in combat simulation: Electronic Combat effectiveness and Non-Cooperative Target Identification (NCTI). Conceptual improvements and potential solutions are offered, leading to an in-depth discussion on a variety of disparate, yet related subject areas. Finally, recommendations are outlined as to future areas of research meriting increased investigation.
