Adaptive Machine Vision.

Abstract

Hierarchical, feature-based pattern recognition is implemented with a coherent optical correlator. The correlator uses a liquid crystal spatial light modulator at the input, Vander Machine Vision, Pattern Recognition and changing the filters. The pattern recognition system is based upon the same principles as the Neocognitron developed by Fukushima. The system has potential use for SDI target/decoy discrimination. For testing purposes, simulated angle-angle and range-Doppler images were generated with SENSORSIM, a code developed and owned by SPARTA, Inc. This code uses constructive solid geometry to permit complex shapes to be built up from a small set of primitive shapes. Mathematics needed for ray tracing with constructive solid geometry is developed in Appendix 6. of this report.
