Electro-Rheology Fluids and Liquid Fuel Flow

Abstract

Goals of this research are: (1) to understand and clarify the physical mechanism underlying the electro-rheological (ER) response of fluids and establish a theory for the phenomenon; (2) to study the structure of ER fluids and their properties, to investigate the change of viscosity of ER fluids with an applied electric field; (3) To apply the ER phenomenon to liquid fuel flows, to control their viscosity and hence their velocity; (4) to examine the necessary theoretical and technique problems associated to the design of a new class of liquid fuel control devices which are based on the ER phenomenon.
