Within the framework of the principles of war, the paper critically analyzes the strategy of the use of submarines during the war and how the operational strategy changed during the course of the war. This paper also critically surveys the use (or misuse) of the key tenets of modern, fundamental military thought. Recommendations and observations are offered which are considered applicable to modern warfare.
