Absolute Detection of O2 (a1Delta) Concentrations

Abstract

The design and calibration of a system for measuring absolute concentrations of Osub2(a(1)Delta) produced in the Chemical Oxygen-Iodine Laser (COIL) are presented. The detection system features a liquid-nitrogen-cooled intrinsic germanium detector calibrated using gas-phase Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) Spectroscopy. Theoretical expressions relating the measured EPR signals to absolute Osub2(a(1)Delta) concentrations are reviewed, and error analysis is included.
