Emission Tomography of Sodium in a Hydrogen-Air Flame

Abstract

An investigation into the use of emission computed tomography for gas diagnostics is presented. The radiative transfer equations necessary for the determination of temperature and number density from emission data are examined. Assumptions required to cast the radiative transform equations in a form amenable for use in emission computed tomography are discussed. The Donner computed tomography algorithms are utilized to perform reconstructions of sodium 589-nm spectral line emissions from a hydrogen-air flame utilizing a square, flat flame burner.
