An Appreciation of Kolmogorov's 1933 Paper

Abstract

An account is given of the paper published in 1933, in which A. N. Kolmogorov introduced the statistic which bears his name. The paper was seminal in the development of goodness-of-fit procedures. Kolmogorov's early career to that date is reviewed, and a summary is given of the extensive work which has followed from the 1933 paper. Kolmogorov statistics, goodness-of-fit.
