Hypersonic Combined Cycle Propulsion Panel Symposium (75th) Held in Madrid, Spain on 28 May - 1 June 1990 (La Propulsion Hypersonique a Cycles Combines)
Abstract
Contains the 34 papers presented at the Propulsion and Energetics Panel 75th Symposium on Hypersonic Combined Cycle Propulsion, which was held 28 May- 1 June 1990 in Madrid, Spain. The Symposium was arranged in the following sessions: Keynote (1); Technical Review of Hypersonic Propulsion/Mission Requirements (4); Propulsion Concepts (8); Air Intake Flow (4); Turbomachinery (2); Combustion and Ram/Scramjets (9); Nozzle Flow (5); High Temperature Materials (2). The Technical Evaluation Report is included at the beginning of, the Proceedings. Reports of the discussions follow each paper. The Symposium offered a large number of experts the opportunity to appreciate and discuss the present status in the broad scope of subjects contributing to hypersonic combined cycle propulsion. Considerable progress in design and analysis, using computational fluid dynamics techniques, was reported. A better fundamental understanding and experimental effort is still required, and in some areas suitable test facilities are not yet available. Subjects for future dedicated meetings are suggested. Hypersonic vehicles, Supersonic combustion ramjet engines, Computational fluid dynamics, Missile propulsion, Hypersonic flow, Turbojet engines. Heat resistant materials.
