Algorithms for Multichannel Optical Processor

Abstract

This report discusses several alternative algorithms for implementation in an optical processor to perform adaptive interference cancellation. Estimates of the interference signal are formed in the optical processor by weighting and summing delayed copies of signals which are input from multiple auxiliary antennas. The optical processor is limited in the number of weights that can simultaneously be applied. To address this limitation, a new class of algorithms called limited output weight position algorithms is introduced in this report. One particular algorithm which sequentially applies the output weights is shown to provide good cancellation performance in a number of simulated multipath delay scenarios.
