The True Constructs of a Quality Program.

Abstract

The ability of an organization to provide high quality products or services at competitive costs is an absolute matter of survival. The principle objective of this research was to examine the available literature in the quality area-to gain a better understanding of quality and how it relates to organizational success. To accomplish this objective, an extensive literary review and critical analysis of major quality books, journals, periodicals, government documents, and theses were conducted. This research identifies the primary elements of the definition of quality, the universal principles of quality required for successful quality program implementation, and the emerging principles of quality that will help create competitive advantage in the 1990s. A survey instrument, designed to gather data to test the research conclusions and to help determine the state of quality in warehousing and distribution center operations, is included. Total Quality Management, Quality, Quality Control.
