Absorption of Propellant Vapors into Polymer Films

Abstract

A preliminary study of the absorption and desorption of methylethyl ketone and nitrobenzene on various commercial and laboratory prepared polymer films was performed. The development of film exposure techniques along with the evaluation of the feasibility of using FTIR detection of the absorbed vapors was completed. The techniques were tested with 2,4-dinitrotoluene and 2,4,6- trinitrotoluene. DNT and TNT desorption studies for ethyl cellulose and Tedlar were performed.
